What it does

Structured Cabling & Fibre

Cabling is the part of a network that lasts fifteen years and the part nobody wants to pay for properly. Untested, unlabelled cable is why an intermittent fault takes three days to find instead of ten minutes, and why nobody dares unplug anything in the comms cabinet. Certified, labelled cabling costs more once and less every year after.

Tanzania

Standards, conditions and what you get

  • Certified, not just connected — Every copper link is tested to ANSI/TIA-568 and every fibre run is OTDR tested. You get the results as a document. A cable that was never tested is a cable nobody can defend when the network is blamed.
  • Outdoor and inter-building — Tanzanian campus links face sun, rain and rodents. External runs use UV-stable, armoured or ducted cable as appropriate, and we do not run indoor-rated cable outdoors because it is what was on the shelf.
  • Lightning and earthing — Inter-building copper is a lightning path. Where buildings are separate we recommend fibre, and where copper is unavoidable we fit surge protection and bond correctly.
  • Labelling — Both ends of every cable, to a schedule you keep. This is the cheapest thing in the project and the thing that saves the most money later.
  • Working around your business — Warehouse and office cabling is scheduled around operations, including nights and weekends, so pulling cable does not stop your work.

The part that hurts most is delivered first and put into real use, so value arrives before the whole project is finished.

Trained and supported

Your staff are trained on the real system with real data, and support continues after go-live.

You get the test results, not just an invoice. Handover includes certified test results for every link, an as-built drawing and a labelling schedule. If another contractor takes over from us later, they will be able to work with what we left.

Cat6 or Cat6A?

Cat6 is right for most offices. Cat6A is worth it for runs feeding high-density wireless access points, for longer runs you want to carry 10G, and anywhere you are cabling once for fifteen years. We will tell you which applies rather than defaulting to the more expensive option.

Do we need fibre between our buildings?

Almost always yes. Copper between separate buildings carries lightning surge between them and is distance-limited. Fibre removes both problems and is not significantly more expensive once trenching is being done anyway.

Can you certify cabling somebody else installed?

Yes. We test and issue results, which is often how a dispute with a previous contractor gets settled, or how a persistent intermittent fault finally gets located.

How disruptive is a re-cable?

Less than people expect. New cable is pulled and terminated alongside the existing one, and the cutover happens in a planned window — usually one evening or weekend per floor.

Do you do the trenching too?

Yes, including ducting and draw pits, or we work to a duct route your civils contractor provides.
