Data Centre Design & Build

Most server rooms in Tanzania are a converted office with a split unit and an extension lead. They run until the cooling fails on a Saturday, or until nobody can trace which cable feeds the core switch. A data centre is not a room with servers in it — it is power, cooling, cabling and monitoring designed together, so a single failure does not take the business with it.

  • Structured cabling: copper and fibre, patched, labelled and tested

Tanzania

Power, climate and standards here

  • Power is the design constraint — TANESCO outages, generator changeover gaps and voltage swings drive the UPS and PDU design. We size runtime to your real changeover time, measured, not assumed.
  • Heat and humidity — Coastal Dar es Salaam is hot and humid. Cooling is sized to the actual kW of IT load with N+1 where the business needs it, and condensate and leak detection are part of the build rather than an afterthought.
  • Dust — Filtration and room sealing matter more here than in temperate climates. Dust is the quiet killer of fans and power supplies.
  • Standards — We build to TIA-942 and ANSI/TIA-568 cabling practice, and will state plainly which tier of resilience your budget actually buys rather than claiming a tier the design does not meet.
  • Documentation — You receive as-built drawings, a labelling schedule, test results for every cable and a commissioning pack. A data centre nobody documented is a data centre nobody can safely change.

Trained and supported

Your staff are trained on the real system with real data, and support continues after go-live.

We will tell you if you do not need one. For many Tanzanian businesses a properly built comms room plus colocation or cloud is a better answer than a private data centre. We will say so, and scope the smaller job, rather than selling the larger one.

How big a UPS do we need?

It follows from measured load and the runtime you need — usually enough to ride out short outages and to cover the generator changeover gap cleanly. We measure your actual draw rather than adding up nameplate ratings, which always overstates.

Can you upgrade our existing server room?

Yes, and this is most of what we do. A typical remediation is proper racking, re-cabling with labelling and testing, cooling redundancy, and environmental monitoring so you learn about a problem before the servers do.

What tier can you build to?

We design to the resilience the business actually needs and state it honestly. Genuine Tier III requires concurrent maintainability throughout — dual power paths, redundant cooling — and that is a budget decision, not a label we will apply loosely.

Do you handle fire suppression?

Yes, detection and clean-agent suppression appropriate to an occupied equipment room, coordinated with the building's existing fire systems.

Will we be able to trace our own cabling afterwards?

Yes. Every cable is labelled at both ends to a documented schedule, tested, and recorded in a patching record you keep. This is the single highest-value part of a rebuild.
