What it does

Electric Fence Installation

An electric fence that is not zoned tells you only that something, somewhere on 400 metres of wall, touched a wire. An electric fence with a flat battery tells you nothing at all. The difference between a deterrent and a security system is in the energiser sizing, the zoning, and whether the alarm output is wired to something a human will actually hear at three in the morning.

  • Brands we install and support — Nemtek, JVA, Gallagher and Stafix, with non-proprietary components used where a client wants to avoid being locked to one supplier.
  • Power reality — Sites on unstable mains get battery backup sized for a real Tanzanian outage, and solar where the grid is genuinely unreliable. A fence that dies with the power is a fence that failed.
  • Vegetation — The most common cause of nuisance alarms here is grass and creeper growth onto the lowest live wire. We design clearance in and offer scheduled clearing rather than pretending it will not happen.
  • Lightning and surge — Energisers are earthed and surge-protected. Coastal Dar es Salaam sites get corrosion-appropriate hardware, because galvanised fittings near salt air do not last.
  • Safety and signage — Live fences are installed at the correct heights with warning signage, and we will not install an energised fence at a height or location where it presents a hazard to the public.

We will repair a fence we did not install. Most call-outs we get are on existing fences — dead zones, permanent low-voltage faults, or an energiser that has been bypassed by whoever came before. We report what we find and quote the repair before doing the work.

How many zones do we need?

Enough that a trigger tells a guard where to walk. On a small compound one or two is honest. On a warehouse perimeter, one zone per wall face is the minimum useful design — a single-zone 400 metre fence gives you an alarm with no information in it.

Will it still work during a power cut?

Yes, if it is specified that way. The energiser runs on a backup battery sized to the outage length you need to cover, and we can add solar charging on sites where the grid is genuinely unreliable.

Is an electric fence dangerous?

A correctly installed security energiser delivers a short, high-voltage, low-current pulse — it is designed to be a painful deterrent, not a lethal one. Installation height, signage and earthing are what keep it that way, which is why we will not cut corners on any of the three.

Why does our fence alarm every night for no reason?

Almost always vegetation touching a live wire, a cracked insulator letting current track to the post in dew or rain, or a loose earth. All three are findable in a single fault-finding visit.

Can the fence trigger our cameras?

Yes. We wire the energiser alarm output into the alarm panel or NVR so a zone trigger flags the corresponding camera, which is what turns an alarm into evidence.
